• Self-care to combat winter worries

So we’re out of lockdown 2.0, but back into tier restrictions and edging towards the depths of winter – although that does also mean Christmas is just around the corner! I know that’s something so many of you will be looking forward to, but I think it can probably also be a really stressful time of year too, for lots of different reasons.

Learning from my mistakes during the first lockdown, I created much better habits and routines for lockdown 2.0, which included making regular, proper time for self-care. And I can totally see why people recommend it! I definitely feel calmer, more energised and positive and having reaped the rewards, I fully intend to maintain this to see me right through winter.

“Self-care – the practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.” Clearly the way that you ‘care for yourself’ is really subjective so you need to find what works for you, but whatever it is, make sure you make the time for it – it’s far better to take a proactive and preventative approach to your wellbeing than a reactive approach when things have become a little too much! My routine includes things like a daily walk, closing my laptop to eat my lunch and using my Gua Sha (almost) every evening. Invest in a thick fluffy dressing gown, a cosy pair of slippers, pour yourself a glass of wine and snuggle up with your favourite book. I also recently bought The 5 Minute Journal which I’m loving, particularly the morning routine with my coffee and Rodial dragon’s blood eye patches.

Below, I’ve rounded up a few of the things that have really added to my self-care routine – I’ve tried and tested them and recommend them all. So forget all the Christmas shopping and planning for a minute and do something for you, because you deserve it! Enjoy, and if you have a fabulous self-care routine or something you’d recommend, let me know! x
