I’m always searching for a tasty brunch and great coffee, whether it’s locally or when I’m off on my travels! And I think it’s rare to find that one spot that keeps you coming back time and time again. Which is why I’m dedicating a post to this place; The Jolly Nice. No matter how much you try, you’d be hard pressed to find somewhere so unique with such a great offering of delicious fresh food, and coffee I’ve never once complained about!
Once upon a time, this quirky little farmshop and café was a petrol station. Now, it’s a concoction of yurts and wooden outbuildings, surrounded by fields and meadows. In the winter, you can warm yourself in the beautifully crafted yurts and in summer you can enjoy the little sun trap terrace that they’ve created.
Cyclists pour in for the much anticipated coffee pitstop (somewhat of a weekend ride tradition now and the reason I was introduced to The Jolly Nice in the first place), locals swing by to pick up a joint of meat for the Sunday roast and everyone just generally has a jolly nice time.
My usual order is the avocado on toast, so simple but some of the best I’ve had.
One of the things I love about it here is that the farmshop displays and produce are constantly changing according to the seasons and fully support local businesses. You can always count on finding something different too – from ice cream selections to jams and chutneys to spirits, there’s something there to excite everyone’s taste buds!
Head on out there for coffee in a beautifully quirky setting and if it’s the weekend, don’t forget to say hi!
