Happy New Year! I know, no one is saying that any more, we’re well into the new year now. But it’s my first post of 2018 so feels like the first thing I need to say.

I wanted to take an opportunity with my first post of the new year to reflect a little and share my intentions for the next 365 days – not in any great depth but by touching on these I hope to set the tone for what you might see a little more of on my blog too.

Not to jinx it, but it feels like I’m starting 2018 in a really good place and I’m so excited for what’s in store. So here’s what’s important to me.. and just to note, this definitely isn’t an exclusive list nor the only things that are important to me!

“If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine, it’s lethal’ – Paulo Coelho

This is absolutely a priority for me. And I don’t necessarily mean I’m going to be disappearing for 2 years with a backpack (although that would be pretty amazing, maybe I will..) but there is a whole world out there to see! And I want to see it. Collect memories not things, right? Adventure comes in many forms, so when I’m not travelling abroad it doesn’t mean you can’t still have an adventure.

Working out, eating well and taking time away from screens and gadgets to (try) and let my brain relax a little!! Last year I started getting a massage every other week which I might continue with this year, although maybe not so frequently and I really want to get back into yoga again. Doing the little things that make you happy is so important, so plenty of coffee, brunch, reading time, laughing with friends and family and much more!

    Focus on what you’re doing

“Everything in life is easier when you don’t concern yourself with what other people are doing.”

So true! I’ve lived by this for a few years now and it’s been so freeing to just accept that you don’t need to worry about what other people think of you, are saying about you etc. You have no control over any of that, so why waste energy and sanity worrying about it. The only thing you do have control over is your own actions and reactions. However, having said that, I do still worry more than I should about how my photo looks on my feed, how it compares to a blogger that has 1m followers. And I shouldn’t, because I’m learning and figuring out what my aesthetic is. So instead, I just need to do it.

So there’s a bit of insight into what might come through on my blog this year and some thoughts about what my hopes and intentions are. This certainly doesn’t cover everything as that would be a monster post and probably quite a soppy one too!! So I will save that, for now.

Every new year needs a beautiful and inspiring new diary, full of crisp blank pages ready to be filled with exciting plans for the days and months ahead. I got mine from An Organised Life and absolutely love it – choosing the perfect diary is such an important part of the new year for me and this one is everything I wanted! There’s a little section at the front where you can get handy tips on how to set your goals for the year, with a month overview at the start of each new month to outline exactly what you want to achieve. Its simple, classic and monochrome of course.

    Wishing you an amazing 2018!
