If you are in Paris, you definitely need to visit Chez Fernand.
Authentic French food served up in the cosiest of venues, tucked away in the original and stylish area of Paris; St Germain.
Be warned though – you won’t be the only ones hoping for a table here! We arrived at Chez Fernand later on Friday evening, following a very enthusiastic recommendation from the concierge at our Hotel (Bel Ami, check it out, it was fab!)
Already a couple of couples were milling about outside waiting for their table. We were offered wine and happily chatted amongst ourselves before we were ushered into the warm.
We were tucked into our table, surrounded by animated conversation as the waiter cracked jokes to us and spontaneously burst into song!
I just love the menu!
G couldn’t resist the baked camembert with honey to start – I stuck with my glass of Chablis…
Luckily for him I’m not a great lover of cheese…
You may have noticed on the menu a dish called ‘Le Legendaire Boeuf Bourguignon, Pomms Vapeur.’ We both opted for this as our main – and it really lives up to it’s name.
It’s served in individual dishes..
And tastes incredible. Rich, warming, delicious!
A little glimpse of the interior – traditionally French! And how cute are the tablecloths?!
Having polished off our beef ‘boogy on down’ (thanks Mum) we debated with the family next to use what to have for dessert.
Tarte Tatin (I chose well!)
We both agreed that we couldn’t have had a better first evening in Paris – the food was delicious, the atmosphere was fantastic and the waiters were hilarious and so welcoming.
Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!
