Cafe Pistou

When there’s a birthday, there’s a day in London to be had.  The birthday in question? My Boyfriends! (We’ll call him G).

After a quick circuit around Westfield shopping centre, we headed to Exmouth Market. Nestled neatly on the corner with a pretty spearmint exterior is Cafe Pistou – an all day Provençal brasserie.

How pretty! And it’s just as lovely inside… shabby chic walls with white marble table tops and bottles glistening along the bar.

Cocktail o’clock! Cafe Pistou mojito for me!

We chose from the lunch menu; a selection of light bites, small plates, large plates and salads. Kind of like tapas, order a little bit of whatever you fancy!

We opted for barbajuans, burrata (with basil, tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil), ratatouille w/ fried egg and parmesan (so delicious!) and the Pistou niçoise salad.

The food was so fresh and colourful, it was really delicious; simple yet effective! It was a perfect birthday lunch in a lovely setting.

Back outside, the sun was shining and it got very hot very quickly! As we didn’t have dessert with lunch we stopped and treated ourselves to a salted caramel brownie and in a twist of fate stumbled upon a man selling coconuts!

There is nothing better than fresh, chilled coconut water! Well, maybe with a splash of rum..

Happy birthday coconuts!
